I certainly hope that you enjoyed the short summer we had as much as I did – but to be honest, I’m looking forward to our
beautiful winter that will be upon us soon. Especially after the recent heat wave.
I wonder
what our ancestors from the mythical Australian outback would have thought about the recent hot sleepless nights?
"Amidst the outback plains, no breeze to soothe the skin,
Cicadas drone like a chant from the bushland within.
And when the day draws close and stillness fills the land, Kookaburras laugh like jesters in a chorus so grand.
And when the sweltering night sparkles with starry light, often through the restless hours sleep seems out of sight."
For many of my customers in the clinic at the moment, sleep seems out of sight. Quite a few expressing concerns about sleeping issues – which is no wonder. Special circumstances like weather or travelling to different time zones can throw off the best sleeper.
But what if you constantly have sleeping issues?
We know that sleep is important for the body to recover and repair,
and it is not necessarily the length of sleep, but more the quality of sleep that we are concerned with.
Some people sleep 9-10 hours but still feel tired and exhausted in the morning while other people only sleep 5-6 hours but feel fantastic when they wake up.
Sleep is truly a magical time when you get to escape reality and live in a world where anything is possible. And a restful
sleep often makes for peaceful dreams where you can imagine yourself perfectly fit, happy and living well.
Hitting the reset button on your body is very important. My husband takes more naps in his 60’s now and is fond of saying: "he is doing important scientific research on the benefits of
sleep and he will pass on his research when it is complete" :)
So what is the secret to a good nights sleep?
This month we dedicated our research to just that:
So with this I wish you restful nights ahead.
PS: we also do have more student colonics available again.
All the best
