I wrote a small poem for the Winter Season. I don’t know if it is original or if I heard parts of it somewhere in my past, but it just came so easy I thought to share it. The inspiration came on a early walk down to the river at sun rise the other morning.
"I can’t see my breath, in and out, slow or fast, but I can feel my breath, as long as it lasts.
Now Winter is here and my breath is seen with my eyes, in the cold air I can see it there, clouding up the skies."
Winter has settled in. Of course it is nothing like the winter compared to other parts of the world. I recently had my dad here from Germany and he was laughing at what we call winter and was happy to be able to enjoy so many outdoor activities including swimming with the dolphins.
Winter is known all around the world as ‘flu season’ as it is the cold that makes us more prone to all kind of flus. Or at least that is what we put out for with our thinking at this stage in humanity.
My grandmother would have said put on another jumper you don’t want to get a chill. “You will catch your death of cold“. My Grandmother had a million lines like this. That generation believed without a doubt that chicken soup could cure any winter ailment.
It was all very loving when I look back on it but the truth for me is, all of these traditional attitudes contribute to our well-being immensely. Especially when combined with modern forms of vitamins and mineral supplements which were not available to granny.
There are so many wonderful things about our lives these days and no matter what the doom-sayers in the media say, I am so grateful to live in such an abundant time.
With the availability of vitamins and supplements of all kinds we really have to look at the need, and how to diagnose vitamin deficiency, which was part of the reading in our library this month.
We also looked at:
• how to fix one of the most common vitamin deficiencies of B12
• all the effects a lack of vitamin D can have on our body – including weight gain
• and most importantly how the little-known vitamin folate can make all the difference in preventing covid.
Of course many of the avid readers of our blog will know that your gut microbiome plays a major role in your immune system and winter months are the most important months to keep your colon working well and avoid disease. I suppose my ‘Granny advice’ would be about the importance of winter colonics, probiotics and fibre.
Even so people often don’t think of having colon cleanses in the winter, keeping our bowels clean and moving has to be a priority all year around for the sake of our microbiome.
We understand that times are tough for many people with prices rising for everything, so with another class graduating from the Vitalis Training Centre we have more of our excellent student colonics available this winter. Check with us if that appeals to you.
Meanwhile, with so much more awareness about colon health these days we are always looking for more therapists. Why not become a holistic colon hydrotherapist yourself and work with us?
Keep warm, make sure you get enough vitamins and make a big pot of Chicken soup :)
Till next month
