Hello ,
Summer is upon us here in Australia and for some this means heading into those sleepless balmy summer nights. This month our Vitalis newsletter will focus on the important subject of sleep.
Everyone knows that sleep affects both mental and physical health. Especially parents! Somehow through genetic coding all parents seem to know that if there is a hope of civilized behavior from their little Angels, regular sleep and a good diet would have to be at the centre of their efforts.
Approximately 25% of people have a sleeping disorder according to the bureau of statistics.
Half of those have heavy snoring issues. Out of the remaining half, 70% unintentionally fall asleep during the day. The remainder have chronic insomnia.
Thank goodness that only one in four people have sleeping disorders.
Seven to eight hours of sleep per night has been touted by the medical establishment as the amount of sleep necessary to perform your best when it comes to communication, planning and decision making.
Join us this month as we explore the health risks associated with sleep disorders. Including brain performance, risk of diabetes, early death, risk of stroke or heart disease (sounds like a list of health risks for smokers!).
Find out more about why sleep is critical for good health and is vital for learning and memory.
Wishing you the best in health.
